Hello my adorable Thinkers!
Today’s thought comes from this picture I took while walking my dog. The way she likes to walk is to run ahead, then turn around to make sure I am going the same direction I was when she left me.
As I was walking, she reminded me of how we often walk with God. Many times we will run ahead of what God has planned for us. We look to the future and try to plan out how we see things going. Then when we think we have it figured out, we look back at God to check and see if He is going the same way. That is not following Him, to truly follow Him we must be behind Him and let Him lead. That way, wherever He walks we can change our path to match it right away.
By planning out how we want things to go, we are not trusting that God has a plan already. Just like my dog, she went where she wanted to go. If I were to turn from where she thought I was going, when she looked back she wouldn’t see me. God’s plans are to give us a future and a hope according to Jeremiah 29:11. He will teach us the way we should go. (Psalm 32:8). In Proverbs 16:9 it says, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
So don’t be like my dog. Keep your eyes on God and He will guide you step by step the way you are to go. Make your plans with prayer and humility, God will show you the next step when you need it.
